The opposite of homosexuality is not heterosexuality. The opposite of homosexuality is holiness.

I’m Angela’s friend…wandered over here and thought I’d share the best thing I’ve heard about homosexuality in a long, long time.

The opposite of homosexuality is not heterosexuality. The opposite of homosexuality is holiness.

I have a friend who “came out” a few months ago, and we had a long, heart to heart the other day about what it means for him to be gay. I asked him, “What does this mean for you and Jesus?” and he was quick to respond, “Jesus is my Lord and Savior. He always has been and always will be. Nothing will ever change that.”

Bottom line, my friend is walking down a path of rebellion right now, just like all Christians do at some point or another in our lives. We are all Prodigal Sons. We all, at some point, delude ourselves into thinking that our sin is not sin. Anyone who claims that they haven’t done this — just wait. You will someday.

One correction: Your post states that Romans 1 is considered hate literature in Canada. That is not correct. Here is the most relevant court decision which in fact confirmed that the Bible on its own could not be considered hate literature. Just wanted to set the record straight as far as Canada goes. I agree. We don’t have to accept the behavior, but we need to make sure we’re not treating it like the unforgivable sin.

Great post! Rev. Andy Little says we pick on Homosex cause it is easy due to the ick factor. I think he has a good point. i do not buy the born that way thing. I have seen too many guys gay due to abuse from older relatives or social pressure because they were a bit less “manly” than their compatriots. I have met too many lesbians who were mistreated by men. I remember my Dad telling my uncle to take my cousin down to the Red Light House right quick. Dad said who ever gets that boy first thats what he is gonna be. Dad was right,cousin is as gay as they get.
I also served in a church with a man every one said was gay, he was effeminate to a degree, lived with his mom, and has no sexual partners. I think he made a choice to stay out of the game entirely.
I am not going to accept a behavior I think is wrong, but I agree with all y’all, it is no worse than other sins.

Corina, it’s not a proven fact that a person is born homosexual. But I’m not saying having homosexual feelings is a sin, just as I don’t believe being attracted to someone you’re not married to is a sin. Feelings and emotions are not sin. It’s what we do with them.

Unlike hair or skin color, what we do with our sexuality is a choice. The autistic child cannot say, “I will not be autistic today.” But anyone can say, “I will not commit a sexual sin today.”

We are a fallen race, and we are all kinds of things God never intended for us to be. All of us.

As far as I know there is only one “deal-breaker” where God is concerned, and it’s not sexual preference, or what we think about it.

Some how I don’t buy that homosexuality is a sin. I don’t really care what the Bible says or what we think it says. Homosexuals are born homosexuals just as heterosexuals are born heterosexuals. How can that be a sin? Is it a sin to be born autistic? Is it a sin to be born crippled? Is it a sin to be born with blonde hair? Is it is a sin to be born with brown skin? Is it a sin to be born with green eyes?

How could God create a person that is attracted to another of their same gender and then want them to lie about it and be with someone of the opposite gender just because society deems it to be right?

I don’t know. Maybe I will burn in hell for thinking and believing this but that’s okay. I’ll be in good company if that’s the case.

What is the difference between homosexuality and adultery? What’s the difference between homosexuality and lieing? The answer: Nothing. They’re both sins and everyone sins. If you turn your back on homosexuals then you should also then turn your backs on those who commit any kind of sin.

I’m glad this post helps to point out the scriptures to backup the stances and also states that we are to love one another. This is how Christian love is supposed to be.
